Peter Banks
It’s not possible this bloke is consistently this bad
He 100% takes money to fix matches
We as a club should call him out on it after this match

Re: Peter Banks
shocking decisions
bottled a clear as day second yellow that was right under his nose.
Never a foul for their free kick → goal. Never.

Newcastle getting the big club love

Re: Peter Banks
We should. He was fucking dreadful and did not apply the rules consistently to both sides.

Never mind not dishing out cards for their players which would have resulted in two sendings off, not booking one of theirs for literally the same thing Emerson was booked for. The free kick for their goal wasn’t a foul and the VAR needs looking at. They didn’t even draw a line for an initial offside from their free kick before the second ball which looked 50/50 at best and I am positive their player’s shoulder was in advance of our last defender. I really really want to see that again because if so that’s a repeat of the Liverpool thing but in favour of the attacker instead.

Re: Peter Banks
If we were Liverpool, this bloke would be banned from reffing us again this season. The non sending off is an absolute joke. They were identical cynical fouls a couple of minutes apart. The Almiron no yellow card. The foul given against Paqueta which isn’t a foul at any level.

I’ll be disappointed if Moyes doesn’t take the fine to highlight. Every commentator and pundit has called it a disgrace.

Re: Peter Banks
Well, anything noteworthy in our match has just been overshadowed by Kovacic not getting sent off in the other game. That’s all anyone will be talking about now unfortunately. We may get a small mention at the bottom of a paragraph.

Yeah I thought the same thing when it just happened

Re: Peter Banks
Close to the end of the game a Newcastle player did a two handed push to Paq's back, making him fall oer. Banks was looking right at them but nothing given.

It was a truly disgraceful performance and he should be stood down.

How was Bruno not sent off?

Plus surely no foul by Paqueta for their goal?

Re: Peter Banks
Isak also offside from free kick for first goal but am not sure if he is okay because it hit our defender before he scored?

Re: Peter Banks
Scorchio I don't understand what you meant re offside.

You mean for their first goal?

When the initial cross comes in from the free kick, the person jumping with Alvarez (who's the only one interfering) was onside. Alvarez then heads it to Isak. Definitely not offside.

But for the second, Isak pushes Aguerd in the back with two hands before scoring and looks around to check if it's been disallowed before celebrating. Unless there is another angle I haven't seen which shows something different for that one then I cannot understand for the life of me how VAR haven't called it as a clear and obvious error.

Failure to make yellow card decisions also unacceptable (though nothing to do with VAR). I haven't seen the Paqueta foul again for the free kick leading to the first goal.

Re: Peter Banks
The referee was just laughable
Presume he was one of the ones that did a midweek trip to Saudi on the promise of a bunk up with a CAMEL

First half I thought we started slowly for the first 8 mins and then scored and played as well as we have this season.
Came out in a coma for the second half ... of course they scored from that ludicrous free kick ... and let the game drift.
Only picked up when the dismal Antonio was replaced by the dynamic KUDUS & think the point was deserved. Could have won it at the end too.
I'd play Kudus in a free role across the front. He wins the ball, beats people and runs with it. Can create chances for himself and win free kicks close to goal for JWP.

Re: Peter Banks
Its the same every time one of these north west.mafia take control of matches. I thought there would be an improvement when Mike Dean retired but they got him a job fucking up VAR. He was shit at that so he's now on Sky spouting bilious claptrap.
Its not as if its an incompetent making mistakes, as you'd expect it to even out throughout the game. I suspect they are briefed to favour the rich clubs or they are under the control of betting syndicates. I give examples of Balbuena, Feghouli, Souchek being sent off by these twats and that decision given by that other northern twat Bobby Madley to allow an offside and handball by Wilson for Bournemouth that he single-handedly overturned. He was sacked after that for taking the piss out of a disabled bloke although I suspect it was for this blatant wrong decision.

Re: Peter Banks
Fifth- when trippier strikes the ball their guy nearest the camera is offside, I’m certain. It may actually be Isak, I can’t remember. I don’t know how the player couldn’t be not interfering with play.

Re: Peter Banks
Just got back from the game, so haven't seen any TV replays but from my vantage point the free kick for their equaliser looked extremely soft and the referee seemed far more lenient to them for their fouls than to us.

Seemed to me to be a clear case of "rich club bias".

Vexed 12:52 Mon Oct 9
Re: Peter Banks
Well don't watch the replays because you will be pissed off. They should categorically have been down to ten men, the free kick for their equaliser was a joke, never a free kick in a million years. There is a strong argument that Isak was offside too. Newcastle have been jammy as fuck today. The ref is an appalling cunt.

Alfs 1:18 Mon Oct 9
Re: Peter Banks
I don't buy the 'top six' bias. Take Liverpool's recent case, for example. It's purely down to incompetence, along with Ref's not being made accountable for their decisions.

It's only a matter of time before a club sues the FA for loss of revenue due to a ref screwing up.

Vexed 1:31 Mon Oct 9
Re: Peter Banks
Liverpool have been massive beneficiaries of refereeing decisions, there's a definite bias.

Taylor fucked over Brighton too. Rob Jones from Liverpool favouring Villa. Corrupt bunch of tossers

Alfs 3:34 Mon Oct 9
Re: Peter Banks
Vexed, in their last game they had two players sent off and a good goal disallowed. How is that Liverpool 'bias'?

Back to our game, even Shearer thought that was a sending off for whatever his name is.

Re: Peter Banks
Imo it’s not corruption but a combination of incompetence, inability mentally to handle the pressure and speed of the Premiership and very possibly the old “unconscious bias” to super rich teams who’s wealth and influence will impact. The likes of United and Liverpool drive TV subscriptions globally that provide a disproportionate funding for the Premiership “gravy train”. It must influence just as large corporations influence decisions in politics etc.

Newcastle are now part of the narrative and their wealth means everyone including pundits and refs assuming they are going to be winning most games and that wealth will have sway with those that oversee or run the league. The super league idea has made it worse as the Premiership does not want to give them more excuses to breakaway and threaten the gravy train.

If we had played a team outside the rich 6 or so yesterday, the sending off would have happened Imo and Banks would have been less inclined to “not upset” the away team Imo. He will know ( consciously or unconsciously ) that the media and pundits now take Newcastle seriously and will run the microscope over their games. It’s easier to upset a West Ham as their clout is less damaging. It’s how things work in the West of the globe where capitalism and neo liberal economics drive tge culture.

Banks is incompetent for sure but simply was making decisions based on minimizing the scrutiny of his refereeing. The unconscious bias did as a result look like it was “conscious”. :-)

maverick180 8:33 Mon Oct 9
Re: Peter Banks
I’d say it’s 100% corruption
No matter how bad a refereeing display is the FA do not investigate them for match fixing, why is that? They’ve investigated players but not their own referees
Personally I think it’s obvious what’s going on
